SANTA MONICA, Calif. – March 5, 2015 Earlier today a plane crash-landed in Venice Beach’s Pen Mar Golf course after experiencing mechanical failures, 3rdsteet.tv reported.

The pilot, well known actor Harrison Ford, was injured in the crash.

After taking off from the Santa Monica Airport, Ford’s plane clipped a tree near the golf course causing a medium to high ground collision said Patrick Butler, Los Angeles Fire Department Assistant Chief.

Before paramedics arrived on the site, bystanders attended to Ford. Ford is reported to be seriously injured and receiving medical treatment.

Ford, 72,  is best known for his roles as Han Solo (Star Wars) and as the star of the Indiana Jones franchise.

In November of last year, Santa Monica voters passed Measure LC. By passing the measure, the opponents of The Santa Monica Airport moved one step closer to closing the 98-year-old airstrip.
